So tonight I decided to go to a lecture in the city! One of the many things I wanted to start doing in the new year. I was very surprised at how much I have missed going to lectures, and listening to an architects point of view on architecture as a career, and his thought process concerning their own work.
I had never heard of Glenn Murcutt before buying my ticket and did no research prior to the lecture. What I have found out now after a quick google is that he is an extremely accomplished Architect. He won the Pritzker Price in 2002, has won the Alvar Aalto Medal as well as other awards in his career. The current work he was talking about was the Australian Islamic Centre in Newport, Melbourne.
